Blanton Museum of Art presents Silver's Myths of Spanish Americas, part of the Distinguished Visiting Speakers in the art of the Spanish Americas series.

The silver mines in Potosi (present-day Bolivia) were discovered in 1545. The silver produced there fed and renovated European economy during almost three centuries but was also transformed in numerous artifacts that were used both in civil and religious environments.

In this webinar, an advanced celebration of the Blanton’s silver galleries opening in the Fall, we will discover new approaches to everyday life and work in what was the world's highest and richest colonial boomtown and learn how to appreciate colonial silverware beyond their simple stylistic features.
