The Blanton Museum of Art presents Blanton Live: Conversations for Now, a live speaker series that brings together artists and creative thinkers from a range of disciplines to discuss the most compelling ideas and issues of the day.

The inaugural program of the series, titled Blanton Live: Conversations for Now | If the Sky Were Orange..., features a panel of climate writers and experts: Journalist and bestselling author Jeff Goodell will be in conversation with Katharine Hayhoe, Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy, and Julian Brave NoiseCat, Secwepemc/St’at’imc writer and filmmaker.

Goodell guest-curated the Blanton’s current exhibition "If the Sky Were Orange: Art in the Time of Climate Change," which explores the history and urgency of climate change through art. For the exhibition, Goodell invited 10 climate and energy experts, including Hayhoe and Brave NoiseCat, to each interpret a contemporary artwork featured in "If the Sky Were Orange" from the perspective of their specialized knowledge of climate change.

The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet by Jeff Goodell and Saving Us: A Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World by Katharine Hayhoe will be available for purchase in the Museum Store, and the authors will sign their books in the exhibition galleries immediately after the program. Attendees are invited to view the exhibition If the Sky Were Orange before or after the program.
