Classical Music For the World presents Capitol Peace Concert, which celebrates the UN International Day of Peace by sending out a message from the heart of Texas to inspire and unite people through the medium of classical music.
The musical performances include a bassoon solo of the Ukrainian National Anthem; a chamber orchestra performance featuring some of Austin’s finest classical musicians; vocalists singing Korean and Ukrainian songs; and children from Doss Elementary School singing an African American spiritual and ”Hakuna Matata” from The Lion King.
Two-minute peace talks include guest speakers from the community. A folk-dance performance will be performed by Sonyashnyk, an Austin-based Ukrainian group. Two Ukraine-related art exhibitions will add a visual element to the program.
