Starting as a funk band in Detroit in the early 70's, the Brothers Hackney transformed into a protopunk band before Bad Brains, Sex Pistols, and the Ramones. After refusing to change their name from Death, the band lost their record deal and the demo tape gathered dust in an attic.
Now after 30 years, the band has regained a following and recognition for their visionary music, earning themselves a lead role in the documentary A Band Called Death, and now they come to the Parish for a special concert performance. And catch the band for a screening of the film and Q&A at the Drafthouse on Wednesday, June 26.
