Austin Emerging Arts Leaders presents Arts Advocacy 101, a free panel discussion. This event is open to anyone who believes that the arts are a vital contributor to our community and would like to become involved in the public policy process. When the 2013 Texas Legislature convenes this January, among their items for consideration will be the future of the Texas Commission on the Arts. Find out how you can be a valuable advocate for the arts now. In this session you will learn the rules which regulate lobbying and effective strategies for engagement. The panel includes voices representing both sides of advocacy — activists and public officials. Hear about their experiences shaping arts-friendly policy at the local and state level.
