On January 25, the Austin Saengerrunde will hold the Fasching Masquerade Ball, a hugely festive and fun night filled with decorated tables, costumes and lots of dancing to the music of the Moonlight Express Orchestra. A $100 prize will be up for grabs for the best costume.

Fasching is Gemany's version of New Orleans' Mardi Gras or Rio's Carnival. It's a huge celebration that is held every year that celebrates the festive season right before Lent. It is a time of festivity and merry making — a time to break the rules, poke fun at those who make them and then to make your own new rules.
