Landmarks Video hosts a special screening of its January video Theme Song (1973) by acclaimed-artist Vito Acconci. In a stream-of-consciousness monologue, Acconci attempts to seduce the viewer while music from the Doors, Bob Dylan and Van Morrison plays. Kate Green will give an introduction to Vito Acconci and the video and follow up the screening with a Q-and-A. Green is pursuing her Ph.D. in art history from the University of Texas at Austin, with a dissertation project about Vito Acconci’s performative videos from the 1970s. In addition, Acconci has recently been commissioned by Austin Art in Public Places to create a new work at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
The film will be screened in ART 1.110, adjacent to the UT Visual Arts Center galleries at 23rd St. and San Jacinto Blvd.
