Austin and Detroit are separated by nearly 1,400 miles, but you wouldn’t know it by listening to The Nightowls, the local band whose sound recalls the golden age of Motown. Although The Nightowls, who are helmed by frontman and songwriter Ryan Harkrider, formed in 2011, their electrifying chemistry and tight, danceable songs make it seem as though the band has been together much longer.
