The Garden Club of Austin's Annual Plant Show & Sale is rated an amateur show and all are welcome to participate. A special guest appearance by Emily, “The Queen Mother” of a species of night blooming cereus (ceroid cacti) will be on display at the entrance to the plant sale. She will be there to meet and greet all and photos of her unusual, rare and spectacular display of blooms and fruit will be on display as well. Club President, Robert Day, harvested Emily’s seedpods and successfully propagated Emily’s offspring – they will be for sale while supplies last.
Attendees can enjoy the plant show and sale, while taking advantage of the beautiful Botanical Gardens, where the 2019 Woodland Faerie Trail Exhibit will be open, the thyme gardens in full bloom and the Dinosaur Park a must-visit for all children.
Night Blooming Gardens: Mark Gibbs from The Great Outdoors Nursery on South Congress will share his knowledge of night blooming plants, how to introduce them to your existing gardens or, perhaps, begin a new night bloomers only type garden area. Various night blooming species will be on sale as long as supplies last.
