eventdetail

Taste of Black Austin was launched as a culinary experience to explore the journey of black economic growth through the historical context of food. The event serves as an introduction to the profound history of Black business and economic success in Central Texas. The 2018 theme, "From Field to Table" traces the influence food and farming have on American families within the context of black history and American culture.

The evening will commence with an intimate reception featuring savory hors d'oeuvres prepared by some of Austin’s favorite Black chefs and a curated photo exhibition showcasing unique perspectives on Black food history. Conversations around agriculture, sustainability and economic parity will be lead by Black farmers and local food industry professionals.
