Hope & Sesame, a local Texas non-profit and 501(c)(3) public charity, works to resettle refugee women and their families in Austin, and to help them become part of our community. They will present another in their series of community dinner experiences, offering for the first time a taste of two different cultures at one event.
Syria and Iraq are neighbors: two distinct countries whose people share a border as well as the Arabic language and the Islamic faith. The two countries will share the kitchen to prepare a meal that's straight from their neighborhood to ours.
Guests will get to meet and welcome the "Chefugees" and their families, hear some of their stories, and enjoy delicious home cooking and traditional hospitality from Syria and Iraq.
