Wojtek is a deeply moving journey to find home, inspired by the true story of a legendary bear who joined a company of exiled Polish soldiers on a wildly imaginative adventure around the world. Told through life-size puppetry in the tradition of War Horse, and set to the music of Fryderyk Chopin, this unique theatrical experience must be seen to be believed.
Wojtek is created by Austin native Benjamin Roberts, who grew up performing on Austin stages including ZACH, Zilker, and Impact Arts. Roberts is now based in Tokyo, where he composes and orchestrates music for the theaters and wind ensembles around the world.
This world-premiere staged reading of WOJTEK follows a workshop presented by the American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University.
