The Long Center
The Buena Vista Social Club is a little known collective of veteran musicians from Cuba who first made their mark with a 1997 self-titled album of lively folk song, Latin jazz and passionate ballads. A year later they were featured in an Oscar-nominated documentary by Wim Wenders, further gaining them exposure around the world. The Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club features 15 members continuing the work of their pioneers, with an opening act by Roberto Fonseca, one of Havana's most renowned pianists.
