Mama Fu’s Asian House is celebrating the launch of their Chili Spice Market Menu with the Chilis for Charity Challenge, a pepper eating contest with $25,000 up for grabs. Five local charities will attempt to eat their way through increasingly spicy chili peppers and collect their share of the prize pool. The hotter the pepper eaten, the more money the charity’s representative will earn for their organization.
The event will be emceed by Bama Brown, local morning radio DJ. The participating charities include: Central Texas Food Bank, Austin Pets Alive, Dell Children’s Hospital, Boys & Girls Clubs of Austin, and the Austin Fire Foundation. This event is open to the public, and guests are encouraged to come and cheer their favorite charity on as they eat some of the spiciest peppers on Earth. In addition, the Southpark Meadows Mama Fu’s location will be donating 50 percent of all Chili Spice Market Menu item sales on the day of the event to all participating charities.
