Artist Peter Max will be in Austin for two special appearances while his work is featured in the latest exhibit at the Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery, including new pieces of Marilyn Monroe.
Max first met Monroe in the 50s and was fascinated by her beauty. Now over 60 years later Monroe is the muse in Max's most recent series — painting her in his colorful style based off of Milton Greene's high fashion photographs of the pop icon. Other pieces in the Russell Collection exhibit include Max's famous "Statue of Liberty," the "Flag" pieces, "Umbrella Man" and his Masters series' interpretations of Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, Pablo Picasso, Renoir and Edgar Degas.
Admission is free, but an RSVP for either event is required. You can call 512-478-4440 or email info@russell-collection.com.
The Peter Max exhibit will run from October 17th through October 26th.
