The National Park Foundation and National Park Service are kicking off the National Park Week and centennial celebrations with a consumer event at the University of Texas at Austin Tower. The kickoff event will feature distinguished keynote speakers, including Olympic decathlete Trey Hardee.
Consumers are invited to participate in a "Redwood Kinekt Experience," a virtual experience that allows guests to turn into a Redwood Tree in real time through interactive motion sensor technology. Select visitors will be able project their personal redwood to the top of the UT tower, rising to the same height as the tallest redwood, a soaring 307 feet above Austin.
Guests can also engage with other program assets including interactive learning stations to educate visitors about the centennial movement and more. The event is a part of the Find Your Park/ Encuentra Tu Parque movement, inspiring a new generation to discover the breadth of the National Park Service, and in celebration of the National Park Service’s upcoming 100th anniversary.
