Though an entire genre has been dedicated to Western life, that of cowboys, and ranchers - the people who serve as inspiration aren't always portrayed quite accurately.
First to Rise is a short film tells the story of 5th generation rancher Alyssa Martinez Hind. Alyssa breaks the mold of the stereotypical South Texas rancher. She’s tough, straightforward, and doesn’t put up with B.S. It’s a simple way of living, but it’s honest work and what she’s best at.
The first in a two-part series that dives deeper into telling the story of current working ranchers, rodeo talent, cowboys, and cowgirls, Ocotillo Films dives into the culture for a more honest portrayal.
This is the first of four sets of premieres, limited to 14 people each round. Tickets include a Desert Door cocktail and snacks provided by The Carpenter Hotel. This event will be held in the Q-Hut, an event space/courtyard pavilion located on the East Side off of the property off Josephine Street.
Face coverings are required when entering the property and this event is 21+.
