RISE! will be an evening celebrating Austin’s Black freedom communities. The event will feature an excerpt from the film Rise, followed by a panel discussion exploring the rich history of these communities that emerged in Austin after emancipation and Juneteenth, the importance of fostering unity, and stories from the descendants of Austin’s Black freedom communities.
