Before it was the Sixth Street we know and love, it was called Pecan Street. To celebrate our progress and honor the memory of Austin's forefathers, twice a year, twenty-four blocks of 6th Street (from Brazos to I-35) are transformed into the annual Pecan Street Festival.
With more than 300 juried artists and original artisans, five stages of live music, a wide variety of ethnic and regional food, children’s workshops and more, the Pecan Street Festival has been a family tradition for over thirty years. As a family-friendly event, the Festival is the largest free art festival in Central Texas.
