Preservation Austin will present its annual homes tour, themed "Into the Woods" with featured neighborhoods including Cherrywood, Delwood, and Wilshire Wood. The tour will showcase the postwar cottages and midcentury ranch homes of these East Austin neighborhoods. The tour headquarters will be at the 1943 Browning Hangar, part of the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport. Bike Austin will provide bike racks and a route for cyclists.
These neighborhoods are quintessentially Austin, with small homes, big trees, a great sense of community, and great architecture. The tour will celebrate house histories and contemporary renovations, but also tell the stories of landmarks such as Maplewood Elementary and the funky Duplex Nation.
