Latinas Artwork Expression is an art exhibition rooted in power and observation. Both featured artists are females born in South America, currently living amid the changes of East Austin. Although they see the same changes, their artwork could not be any more different.
Niz Graphics presents The Colors of Transcendence. Niz is a Peruvian born female stencil artist based out of Austin. She is known for her mutli-layered, photo-realistic stencil work and skate board art. Niz’s work draws from elements of graffiti, hip hop culture, existentialism and spirituality. Her work is vibrant, colorful and dream-like.
Amalia Diaz presents Portraits of a Changing Economy. Díaz is a Colombian who moved to Austin to start her Ph.D in Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. Parallel to her scientific studies, she gave herself space to develop her interest and skills in visual story telling at the Austin School of Photography, the School of Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, and The International Center of Photography, among others.
Together, their artwork represents a very real interpretation of East Austin. 10% of the proceeds from artwork sold will benefit the YWCA of Greater Austin.
