The inaugural SprATX Ignite Winter Showcase will feature the 4th Quarter SprATX Ignite Artists: Sati Ali, J. Sam Frankel, and Elizabeth Greer.
Sati Ali will explore the meaning and feeling of colors and their relationships with one another. This series of work follows a very intricate formula based on the hexagram and tetragram of the Iching and Taixuanjing systems starting with yellow.
J. Sam Frankel is an Austin-based artist who utilizes rich India ink washes and pen work to create detailed, vivid, chromatic illustrations.
While Elizabeth Greer chose to further explore mythological themes, focusing predominantly on the female element of Greek mythology. Using both animal and floral symbolism in conjunction with the female form, she seeks to create a dynamic between the essence of the myth itself and its application to her own life story. Greer is a finger painter, preferring to use only her hands as tools in order to find a more immediate connection between emotion and canvas.
