Modeled after the NCAA tournament, Golden Hornet Project presents the ultimate composition elimination tourney. Sixteen compositions were chosen by Graham Reynolds and Peter Stopschinski from over 100 entries by composers in 12 countries. These finalists will be performed by the astonishing Tosca String Quartet. In Round 1 eight pairs of composers will have only the first minute of their piece performed.
The audience will vote vote via mobile device, and the results will be tallied on the Scottish Rite Theater movie screen. The winners advance to Round 2 where the surviving four pairs of quartets will have their first two minutes played and again the audience will vote. Round 3 will have the final two pairs first three minutes performed and voted upon. Finally, in Round 4 the last two quartets will be played in their entirety, votes tallied, and the winner declared. The composers will remain anonymous until eliminated.
The 16 compositions that make the cut for the tournament will be recorded in their entirety at a dress rehearsal and composers will receive a digital copy of this recording, plus the winning composer will receive a $1000 prize
