Tiemann Art Gallery presents Classical Sound: “Soul of the Cello"

Classical musicians Toby Blumenthal and Douglas Harvey are taking classical chamber music out of the concert hall and into venues with Classical Sound. Douglas is the principal cello of the Austin Symphony Orchestra and cellist for the Artisan String Quartet, and Blumenthal is a piano soloist, chamber music collaborator, Artistic Director of Classical Sound, and Steinway Artist.

The program will span several centuries and countries. It includes the musical compositions of German composers, J. S. Bach (Gamba Sonata in D Major) and Robert Schumann (Five Pieces in Folk Style), the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos (Pequeña Suite), and the 20th century American composer Virgil Thompson (Four Portraits).
