University of Texas Libraries presents Sinclair Black: Austin Today and Tomorrow, Axis for Change

In evolving transportation system based on rail facilitating dense, urban walkable districts throughout the region creates an overall vision for the future. The next generation is faced with the dilemma of replacing and/or compensating for every mistake made since the 1950s. These are people that call themselves urbanists and new urbanists, they are young, well informed and on the move.

Sinclair Black has been practicing urban design and architecture, as both a professor and in his private practice, for over fifty years. He joined the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin in 1967 and taught 101 semesters. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows (FAIA) and Director Emeritus of Congress for New Urbanism Central Texas. Black has won numerous awards for his architecture, urban design, and community advocacy projects.
