Ventana Ballet and Austin Camerata present alien GALAxy, an original evening-length ballet about protecting the planet. This event is a soiree evening of music, dance, conversation, and refreshments, celebrating the upcoming June 2022 world premiere of A Million Alien Gospels.

Two years in the making, the ballet features the original score by Michael Alec Rose, filled with haunting music for string quintet. Loosely inspired by a poem by Alice Meynell, the ballet presents a vision of spiritual pluralism and cosmic dialogue, exploring psychological openness and demonstrating how a breakthrough in our mindset might happen so simply, just by allowing ourselves to recognize the gifts and blessings always in our midst.

The ballet's main character, Alice, encounters the Four Elements: Earth, Water, Air, & Fire, who offer her a gift of earthly love. Overawed by the gift, she has difficulty accepting it, and the challenge of sharing it with others is harder still, when so many have refused the gift without realizing it. Alice learns what it means to make room for the gift: to give and receive what belongs to us all. It is a message that grows with the dance, along all the lines of the music, at last containing a multitude of worlds, a universe of truths...a million alien gospels.

In their cocktail finest, guests are invited to mingle in the grand foyer of KMFA’s Draylen Mason Music Studio, with refreshments provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Still Austin, and Blue Norther Hard Seltzer. The musicians of Austin Camerata will host a brief pre-show conversation, after which the dancers of Ventana Ballet join them on stage for a performance of Act 1 of the ballet. Guests are invited to enjoy another cocktail after the show, meet the artists, and participate in a Q&A with the composer.
