VSA Texas presents: Let's Move Together - Solo show by Denise Knebel

eventdetail

VSA Texas is proud to present Let's Move Together, the new exhibit from artist Denise Knebel.

Knebel is a artist veteran from Converse, TX with over 23 years of active duty military service. Her artwork includes depictions of the mental and physical struggles she has dealt with upon retiring from the military. “I retired when I did because my body was no longer able to handle the physicality required of the military; I couldn’t help feeling that my body had somehow betrayed me.”

Knebel’s largely figural works in Let’s Move Together often portrays the longing for release from these challenges in a feminist tradition. Knebel also experiments with interactive work that invites viewers to reconfigure the work.

Denise Knebel holds a BA with a concentration in fine arts and a minor in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University. She is an art instructor for the Southwest School of Art and both Lackland and Randolph Air Force Base’s Arts and Crafts Centers.

The show runs at the gallery Jun 6 - Jul 29.
