You might want to take a little extra cash with you on your trip to the Domain this weekend. Dozens of artists from Austin and all over the country and Canada have set up mini galleries along the main walkway for the inaugural Art at the Domain event. The event is one of several juried fine art and contemporary craft festivals that make up the Blue Lotus Art Show Tour each year.

Throughout the weekend you'll get to meet the artists behind the original paintings, drawings, sculptures, jewelry and more on display. Plus, you'll know you're getting the real deal. The Blue Lotus Art Show Tour requires all festival participants to apply and submit images of their original work for judging art professionals. Only the best are chosen to tour.

Carla Wright is among the artists who made the cut. Her artwork is colorful and fun crossing a variety of categories including abstract, contemporary, landscape art and more. Koleen Brooks is Wright's self proclaimed "roadie" and helps at all the festival which have proven to be financially beneficial.

"Galleries are having a hard time because of the economy," Brooks said. "Wright's gallery is in Denver and the money we make at these shows help keep it going."

This is the second year Brooks and Wright have toured. This year they will travel to New York, Arizona, Colorado and more than a dozen other festivals. This is their first time in Austin.

"We love the Domain and the people here," Brooks said. "It's a bit smaller so it's nice and quaint and we've loved getting to meet all the other artists."

Their next stop in their tour is Dallas but they will be in Austin for the rest of Art at the Domain which continues through Sunday.
