Spirit Desire and Hot Property kick off the second night of Austin Sketch Fest[Video Preview]
The third annual Austin Sketch Fest kicked off last night at ColdTowne, and tonight they’re moving the festivities to the Hyde Park Theatre for two shows stacked with some of the best comedy acts in town.
At 8 p.m. catch Hot Property with Spirit Desire; at 10 p.m., The P! Company performs with Mary Jo Pehl, who’s presenting her solo show One Across.
We could list a million reasons why you shouldn’t miss this double-header, but we’ll let the teams speak for themselves.
James Patrick Robinson, Brady James and Micheal Foulk have been perfecting their signature brand of brilliantly absurd improv for over two years, recently welcoming new member Rob Gagnon (co-host of The New Movement’s Thursday night open mic, Block Party). The quartet will be appearing at New York’s Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre during the upcoming Del Close Marathon, and they also curate their own show every Tuesday night on TNM’s new downtown stage.
A sort of sketch comedy supergroup, Hot Property members do double (or triple, or quadruple) duty on the most innovative acts in Austin. Mac Blake and David Jara (Mascot Wedding, Master Pancake), along with Lance Gilstrap and Nick Ramirez (Midnight Society), started performing together after their respective teams shared the stage so many times, it was literally inevitable.
