Jesus Christ Superstar tour feauturing odd cast of '90s stars suddenly gets canceled
The national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, which was scheduled for June 20 at the Frank Erwin Center, has been canceled. Options Clause Entertainment, the group in charge of the show, released a statement announcing the cancellation of the tour, but gave no specific reasons for the abrupt change.
The tour, which was scheduled to begin on June 8 in New Orleans, also included dates in San Antonio, Dallas and Houston.
It's a loss for theater fans, if for no other reason than to see the odd mix of stars the musical had cast in the lead roles, including Johnny Rotten, Michelle Williams from Destiny's Child, JC Chasez from 'N Sync and Brandon Boyd from Incubus.
Anyone who purchased tickets online or over the phone will be automatically refunded. Anyone who purchased tickets at a physical box office — does anyone still do that? — must return there to get a refund.
