CultureMap Comedy Night: Teaming up with the Out of Bounds Festival thisWednesday at Gibson Bar
The Out of Bounds Comedy Festival kicks off next week (Wednesday, the 31st, to be exact) and here at CultureMap, we’re excited to check out the scores of improv teams, sketch groups and stand ups that will take over ColdTowne, The Hideout, The Velveeta Room and The State theaters for seven full nights of fun.
On Wednesday, August 24th, join us at Gibson Bar for a preview of the fest featuring three ATX-based Out of Bounds performers: Brian Gaar, Ramin Nazer and Katie Pengra.
Comedy starts at 8 pm, but the drink specials (and free apps thanks to Gibson Bar!) start at 7 pm.
We'll also be giving away an OOB Fest package that includes passes to the fest, tickets to the Uncle’s Brother show at The State (featuring SNL’s Tim Meadows), Level 1 improv classes from ColdTowne and other swag.
Brian Gaar
Author of the popular “It’s Always Funny in Austin” column at Austin360, when Gaar’s not performing around town he’s hosting It’s Always Funny with Brian Gaar, a curated stand up showcase every Friday at 9:30 pm at The Velveeta Room.
Ramin Nazer
Recently returned from the Montreal Just for Laughs festival, Funniest Person in Austin finalist Nazer hosts two (two!) weekly open mics at ColdTowne Theater (Mondays and Fridays at 10 pm).
Katie Pengra
There’s no video available, but trust us that Pengra’s brilliant stand up sets have been earning accolades from audiences across town. (Plus, take a look at her writing here at CultureMap Austin)
See you Wednesday night at Gibson Bar!
