Comedy Genius
Co-creator of The Chappelle Show, Neal Brennan, is swinging by The New Movementfor surprise show
One of the biggest deals in comedy right now is coming to Austin, and hardly anyone knows anything about it. We need to remedy that.
Neal Brennan, Dave Chappelle's longtime writing partner and co-creator/writer/producer ofChappelle's Show, is doing a single late-night stand up engagement at The New Movement's cool new underground digs at Lavaca and 6th St.
Brennan's back on the road, focusing on his stand up, doing the late night circuit and making requisite live appearances all across the country.
It was a lucky snag on TNM's part, catching the thrice Emmy-nominated Brennan on Twitter to invite him to perform in Austin before he heads out to perform in Richmond, Vir. the next day.
After Chappelle's Showended on that bizarre note, Brennan was immediately in high demand as one of the go-to guys for film and TV comedy in Hollywood, working with the big dogs like Will Ferrell and Adam McKay and the rest of the Funny or Die family. (Even though nobody saw it, The Goods was pretty amazing.)
But now Brennan's back on the road, focusing on his stand up. He's doing the late night circuit and making the requisite live appearances all across the country.
Brennan's show will kick off Wednesday at 11 p.m., as TNM is also hosting comedy events all week as part of the massive Out of Bounds Comedy Festival. Favorite local comedians Kath Barbadoro and Duncan Carson will open for Brennan.
Let's just hope this show goes a little more smoothly than that incoherent shitshow that Chappelle put on at the Paramount back in June... or on second thought, maybe it would be more fun if it doesn't.
