MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
Mysterious Museum of Illusions plays mind games with Austin visitors
The widely anticipated grand opening of Austin’s Museum of Illusions with over 70 exhibits is finally here. Guests will have an opportunity to explore a variety of immersive displays including optical illusions, 3D holograms, and more on March 11.
This newest location is just one out of 40 total museums, which are the largest privately held museums in the world. The only other Texas location is in Dallas, and another is being constructed in Houston. Subhi Gharbieh, the managing partner of Beyond Entertainment Group, says the goal of the museum is to have guests explore unconventional journeys “into a world of illusions that many have never seen before.”
“We’re excited that the great city of Austin – known for welcoming and embracing innovative concepts – will soon be home to that experience and we look forward to bringing the museum to the community,” he shared in a press release.
A unique feature to Austin’s museum is an exhibit collaboration with Amy Cook, a local artist renowned for her downtown “I love you so much” mural. A life-size “Building Illusion” with the signature mural will be unveiled on one of the largest mirrors in the country.
“Working with Amy and her management team has been an absolute pleasure,” said Gharbieh. “We are extremely excited to bring her art into our space in a way that can only be experienced at Museum of Illusions Austin and nowhere else.”
Austin's Museum of Illusions will be located at 11010 Domain Drive, Suite #100. More information about the museum, including a list of planned and existing locations, is available at museumofillusions.com.
