Top 10 Austin-area high schools revealed in new report

Texas-based nonprofit Children at Risk has released its 2014 school rankings for the greater Austin area. The report, states the organization's website, is created to "serve as an accessible guide for parents, educators, and community members on the performance of local schools and to spark important community dialogue on the quality of public education in Texas."

The Austin-area report includes school districts outside of the Austin Independent School District, and ranks high schools, middle schools and elementary schools based on students' performance on standardized tests, improvement in test scores, and graduation rates. In addition to school rankings, the report presents overall rankings for Central Texas school districts. Dripping Springs ISD takes the top spot, followed by Wimberley ISD at No. 2, and Eanes ISD at No. 3. Austin ISD, which received an overall "B" rating, ranked No. 17.
