- The biggest cat and kitten adoption event Austin has ever seen.
In what’s being billed as “the biggest cat and kitten adoption event Austin has ever seen,” the Austin Animal Center is attempting to find homes for over 300 animals this weekend.
On Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1, adoption fees (usually $75) will be waived to help place as many cats and kittens as possible in loving homes. All animals will be spayed or neutered, with up-to-date vaccines and microchips. And to make things even sweeter, the first 200 adoptees will receive a goodie bag of treats and toys.

Plus, as if you couldn’t guess from the name, the special event will feature some very special musical acts, from country (Rascal Cats, Kittie Underwood, Tabby Keith, Tim McClaw, The Dixie Kits) to classic rock (The Mewbie Brothers, Stevie Ray Paws, FogCat), pop (Britney Spays, Mariah Kitty, The Pussycat Dolls), alternative (Cold Purr, 9 Inch Tails, Purrvana) — and even some local acts, like Grupo Catasma and What Made A Kitty Famous.
Visit the Austin Animal Center (7201 Levander Loop) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday to meet your furry best friend.
