Is UT Austin losing its party school edge? New national ranking disappoints
A visit to Sixth Street on any supposedly sleepy summer night is enough to confirm Austin's party cred. But outsiders seem to be doubting how hard University of Texas students are partying these days.
After years of dominating party school lists — and taking fourth on Playboy magazine's vaunted Party School list just last year — Texas only comes in at No. 15 on the Princeton Review's new list of the Top 20 Party Schools.
UT is behind such party powers as ... DePauw University and Lehigh University. The University of Iowa takes the No. 1 spot. The rankings are based on surveys of students on campus — with an average of 333 students polled on each campus.
Although this development certainly pleases University of Texas administrators who never loved this part of the school's image, it still seems like something of a sudden slight. It's not like Mack Brown's completely reined in the football partying.
Maybe Johnny Manziel voiced his displeasure at being kicked out of that UT frat party.
