19 puppies rescued by Austin Pets Alive! have found foster homes
Sep 5, 2014 | 1:14 pm
On August 3, Austin Pets Alive! pulled 19 puppies from Bastrop, Texas. "Someone had dropped them off at Bastrop Animal Shelter claiming that they had been left on his/her doorstep," says Rebecca Reid from APA!.
The puppies, which could be from multiple litters, are now three weeks old and in need of around-the-clock feedings and care. They were being bottle fed milk replacement every two to three hours, and will be on canned food until they are six weeks old. At that point, they can transition to dry kibble.
As of Friday afternoon, all of the puppies have been placed in foster homes, says APA!'s Faith Wright.
"It is important that puppies be kept in at least pairs, so to have so many animal loving Austinites willing to open up their homes to not just one but multiple pups like these helps to not only 'Keep Austin No-Kill' but extend our no-kill mission across Central Texas as well," says Reid.
