Blackout Tweets
The 10 funniest tweets from the great East Austin blackout of 2013
A blackout that knocked out power to much of East Austin on Friday night was restored just a few hours after the Pedernales substation "tripped" offline, according to Austin Energy.
For nearly three hours, 10,000 customers were left in the dark, including dozens of bars and restaurants that lost income from the busy weekend evening after being forced to ask customers to leave.
But the blackout didn't darken our collective sense of humor. Almost as quickly as the power went out, the hashtag #atxblackout took over the Austin Twitter trendmap. So in a nod to our very funny fellow Austinites, we present our favorite tweets from the Austin Blackout: November 2013 edition.
