Austin Breastaurant Empire
Certain Texas towns carry near-mythical stature. Places like Shiner and Luckenbach and Marfa are known throughout the country for their quirks and unique flavors. But starting next year, there will be a new small Texas town unlike any other. It is Bikinis, the world’s first, if you will, “breast city.”
Bikinis, formerly known as Bankersmith, Texas, will open to the world on Friday, January 17, for plenty of boozy, booby entertainment. It is the brainchild of Doug Guller, founder and CEO of Bikinis Sports Bar & Grill, the Austin-originated chain of what is known as the only official “Breastaurant” because he trademarked the term.
A bikini hall of fame highlights all the terrific things the bikini has done for humans since its invention in 1946.
The town is located about five minutes from Luckenbach and 10 miles from Fredericksburg on Old San Antonio Road. Bikinis will be open every Friday through Sunday from noon to midnight. The crown jewel is Güller Hall, a 6,000-square-foot dance hall that will feature live music ranging from country to honky-tonk to rock 'n' roll.
There are also several bars and a bikini hall of fame to highlight all the terrific things bikinis have done for humans since its invention in 1946.
Although Guller's sports bars are known for their scantily clad servers, he says that Bikinis will retain its Hill Country heritage.
“It is a big departure from what you see every day at a Bikinis [sports bar], and we’re not going to have a full restaurant out there,” he says. “We’re going to have maybe a couple food trailers or a barbecue pit outside, and we’ll serve barbecue every day.
“The only time you’ll see bikini-clad women is in pictures on the wall or around our big events of the year," says Guller. "Two times a year it will be staffed by bikini-clad women, but the rest of the time it will be staffed just like where you go into a local watering hole around the corner from where you live.”
