Austin approves first updated film incentive for McConaughey project

Austin leaders have approved an incentive award under the city’s updated Creative Content Incentive Program (CCIP) for Hermanos Productions LLC — the production company behind the upcoming Apple TV series Brothers, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Hermanos Productions will receive a $150,000 incentive based on wages paid to Austin-area cast and crew. Officials said the funding is intended to support Austin-based creatives, small businesses, and the local economy.

CCIP was updated to help strengthen the hiring of local creators and to boost Austin’s economic impact. Brothers is the first project approved under the revised guidelines, marking a key milestone for the program.

City officials said the project is expected to deliver significant economic benefits, including more than $6 million in local wages and $9 million in spending on goods and services. The production is projected to employ about 320 cast and crew members and work with local vendors, including minority and women-owned businesses.

Officials estimate combined payroll and local spending will generate nearly $160,000 in direct and related economic impact for the area.
