Austin's resident songstress: Exclusive new music from Joanna Barbera
The living room of Sessions producer CJ Vinson was the perfect setting for a video with Austin songstress, Joanna Barbera. Watching her perform “Pretty” makes singing on camera look easy. Her acoustic guitar co-stars with her polished voice in this personal and up close shoot.
Originally from New York, Joanna Barbera fell in love with music early on and thankfully she has shared her passion and talent with The Sessions crew. Releasing her debut album Carnival Beginning in January 2009, Barbera gained fans with her remarkable vocals and incomparable songwriting skills — not to mention, several songs from Carnival Beginning have been licensed for MTV productions.
Being an independent artist can be a feat for any musician, especially one here in Austin, but Joanna has the music scene in this town under her spell. Taking over stages at the Cactus Cafe, Antone’s and Saxon Pub, Barbera definitely knows how to put on a show. No matter where she performs, her shows are intimate and always focused on her audience. Check her playing Mohawk’s inside stage on August 2. Tunes start at 10 p.m.!
After successfully funding her recent 2012 Kickstarter campaign, Joanna Barbera is back in the studio recording her follow-up album to Carnival Beginning. Keep your eyes peeled for updates here!
