Dolly Parton adds Austin date to first major American tour in 25 years

It's been more than 25 years since country music star Dolly Parton has embarked on a major North American tour. She's doing so in 2016 — and she just added an Austin date to what's been called one of the hottest tickets of the year.
Announced Monday, Parton will play the Frank Erwin Center on December 6 in support of her new double-disc album, Pure & Simple. While she'll debut a few new tunes, fans should expect a retrospective evening when she hits Austin.
“We’re so excited to get out there and see the fans again. I’m really looking forward to singing songs the fans have not heard in a while, as well as the hits, while debuting a few new ones off Pure & Simple,” Parton said.
The tour includes approximately 60 dates in the U.S. and Canada, including a stop in San Antonio on December 8. Tickets to the Austin show go on sale Friday, June 24, at noon at TexasBoxOffice.com.
