Contrast Film Festival
A celebration of women and queer artists in the film industry returns for a second year at the Contrast Film Festival. This year’s events take place throughout four days at various theaters and venues across Austin. Opening night features a rare theatrical screening of the 1963 queer art film Flaming Creatures, presented with the original score performed live by avant-garde musicians Thor & Friends. Additional highlights include film premieres, The Contrast Late Night Adult Multiplex events, comedy performances, live music, motivational speakers, and more. Recording Academy Texas Chapter’s 25th Anniversary Celebration
Music’s top stars from the Lone Star State share the ACL Live stage to commemorate 25 years of the Recording Academy Texas Chapter. Waller Creek Conservancy presents Friday Friday ATX July: Cumple homage a la Frida
The genius of Frida Kahlo is celebrated at Symphony Square. Birthday party activities include live DJ sets, Lotería, raffle prizes, a Frida Kahlo “Dress Alike” contest, and more. The evening will also feature drag performances by Grandma Steven, Kelly Kline, Haute Garbagee, and Chanel Andrews. Guests can also enjoy a variety of on-site food and drink vendors to keep the Frida vibes flowing.
Lone Star Court presents Friday Night Flix
Lone Star Court continues its outdoor movie series with a screening of the all-time summer classic Grease. Guests can take advantage of happy hour food and drink specials throughout the night as iconic musical numbers like “Summer Nights” and “Beauty School Dropout” play on the silver screen.
