HAAM wants your submission for the 2012 Holiday HAAM Jam album
Well, it's August, and that means it's time to start planning ahead for the winter holidays, right? At least that's what's happening at the HAAM offices right now.
The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians has opened their submissions for this year's HAAM Jam holiday album, inviting Austin area musicians to submit either original songs or new renditions of holiday classics to be included on their next fundraising bestseller.
Last year's inaugural HAAM Jam album featured incredible contributions from the likes of David Garza, Dan Dyer, Shelley King, Jon Dee Graham and Patrice Pike among so many other great artists, playing with a full back-up band of legendary instrumentalists at the Aerie Recording Studio.
What started as a fun idea for a single show turned into a fundraising album that reflects Austin's phenomenal and diverse musical talent.
The resulting album sales and the momentous album release party at Antone's brought in over $10,000 to the organization to help provide much-needed health care to Austin's musicians (some of whom appear on the album).
This year, producer Mark Addison and originator Shane Matt are looking to turn up the volume with their second effort to double or even triple that amount.
Austin area musicians of all backgrounds are invited to submit their holiday demos by Aug 31 to be considered for the 2nd Annual HAAM Jam album. Collaborations are encouraged, and strict instrumentals are absolutely allowed. Keep in mind, it must be a holiday song, but remember there are several holidays that happen throughout the winter months!
Submissions can be made directly on the HAAM Jam homepage. Selections will be announced in early September, when they will be invited to come record at the Aerie Studio later that month.
