The Brunch Bunch
Race toward this weird Austin event and its bodacious brunch party
Whether you're a daily jogger or only sprint if something's chasing you, there's one thing we'd all like to see at the end of a run: brunch.
Even better would be brunch from 15 local chefs and restaurants, creative cocktails, and a Bloody Mary bar, all benefitting a local cancer-fighting nonprofit.
This magical event does exist, and it's happening Sunday, September 22, from 7:30 am – noon at Auditorium Shores. 5.12K Run to Brunch, presented by Keep Austin Weird, lets participants race their way through the heart of downtown Austin toward a celebratory post-race brunch, with all registration fees raising funds for Livestrong and the fight against cancer.
Livestrong fights for the more than 32.6 million people around the world affected by cancer. The organization, headquartered in Austin, provides direct services; connects communities with the services they need; and calls for state, national, and world leaders to help fight the disease.
At the event, 5K and 10K runners will end in a Finish Line Expo filled with brands that "Keep Austin Weird." Test your strength at Austin's largest tug-of-war in decades, pose for one-of-a-kind photo ops, dance to DJ beats, and more. Dress not to impress, but to embody all that's weird and wonderful about Austin.
Registration is open now, and you'll want to sign up early since prices increase closer to race day.
