Start your engines for a history-making race at Austin's Circuit of The Americas
For the first time ever, the World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy is speeding into the United States — and Austin is the finish line. From September 29-30, the immensely popular series will pit some of motor sports' most accomplished racers against one another in fast-paced, high-octane, mixed-surface races.
This packed weekend not only includes a lineup of 15 permanent teams and drivers, competing on the new permanent rallycross circuit that sits as part of Circuit of The America's Formula 1 layout, but also a post-race concert from Ludacris and DJ Jazzy Jeff and several interactive activities.
Watch professional World RX drivers take to the course, including Sweden's Johan Kristoffersson, Mattias Ekstrom, and brothers Timmy and Kevin Hansen; Norway's Petter Solberg and Andreas Bakkerud; and France's Sebastien Loeband. Keep an eye out for U.S. drivers Ken Block, Scott Speed, Tanner Foust, and Steve Arpin.
The Texas Skateboarding Club will be flying high throughout the weekend, performing a number of demos in the fan zone.
Itching to get behind the wheel yourself? Subaru, Volkswagen, and Audi are offering test drives from 9 am on Saturday through 4 pm on Sunday. You'll get to drive the F1 track yourself, or be driven on a hotlap by a professional driver.
For the Celebrity Sierra RX race, which takes place between the Rallycross races, skateboarding legend Bucky Lasek will join a star-studded pack that includes freestyle MotoX rider Andy Bell, Team Hotwheels driver and professional stuntman Greg Tracey, ex-MotoGP legend Kevin Schwantz, FMX rider and Monster Energy athlete Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg, NASA astronaut and former commander of the International Space Station Tim Kopra, and American TV personality and owner of Arclight Fabrication Aaron Kaufman.
PBR is bringing a mechanical bull for its fans, along with a display pen featuring live bulls and some of its PBR bull riders (including Cody Nance). High above the fan zone, Freedom Air Helicopters will be giving fans a birds-eye view of the track.
