February may be an overall short month, but it does have five Thursdays, and each one will provide a chance for Austinites to see singer-songwriter Matthew Logan Vasquez (of Delta Spirit and Middle Brother) at Hole In The Wall. Openers for this residency include Mayeux and Broussard, The Inkcaps, Felt Out, and more. Tickets for each gig are $20.
Indie Orchestra at Austin Media Center – Thursday, February 1
Indie Orchestra is back, and it’s set to happen this Thursday, February 1, at the Austin Media Center (located on the ACC Highland Campus). Unwound Sound will be providing orchestral and choral backing for the likes of A Giant Dog, Caleb De Casper, Daniel Fears, Promqueen, and Thor & Friends. Tickets for the show are $30.87.
Great Howl at Captain Quackenbush’s Coffeehouse – Saturday, February 3
Get to Captain Quack’s this Saturday, February 3, to ring in the release of Great Howl’s new EP, Meet Your Maker. Sammy G and Half Dream (performing solo) will serve as support for the indie rock/folk band. Tickets are $10.
KOOP Radio Birthday Bash at Antone’s – Saturday, February 3
KOOP Radio is turning 29, and you can celebrate the occasion with them at Antone’s this Saturday, February 3. The birthday bash will be headlined by southern rockers The Texas Gentlemen and will also feature Jonny Jukebox and DJ Boi Orbison. Tickets are $25.
Gentlemen Rogues at The 13th Floor – Friday, February 9
Surface Noise is the name of guitar pop vets Gentlemen Rogues’ new album, and the release show for it is happening at the 13th Floor on Friday, February 9. Stella And The Very Messed and Crocodile Tears will open the evening. Tickets are $10.44.
Middle Sattre at Radio Coffee & Beer – Saturday, February 10
Experimental folk act Middle Sattre will put out their debut album, Tendencies, on February 9, and then follow it up the next night (Saturday, February 10) with a release show at Radio Coffee & Beer. Show up early to see Some Say Leland and Brother Nielson. This event is free!
