The inaugural International Anime Music Festival will present its debut tour, bringing virtual music superstars to Austin. This marks the first time the popular VTubers (virtually generated animated YouTubers) and Vocaloids (virtual singers with computer generated voices) appear on stage together.
Starring Kizuna AI Original Singerloid “#kzn,” vocal duo Himehina, vocal trio MaRiNaSu, the North American debut of fan favorite Gumi, and pop twins LiLYPSE, the show will be a live, DJ-led multimedia concert rave. Featuring brand new songs and never-before-seen content, the tour brings these characters to life on state-of-the-art LED and high-definition digital projections.
These characters are among the fan-favorites of the international anime-music movement. Originating in Japan, these superstar avatars have exploded globally over the past two years, drawing tens of millions of followers worldwide, generating over 62 million Google searches, and more than 1.2 billion views (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and others).
West Chelsea Contemporary will present “Concrete to Canvas,” featuring the biggest names in street art for the third year in a row. This annual show marks the anniversary of West Chelsea Contemporary’s Austin opening and is epic in scope, visceral in feel and articulates a movement that continues to be hugely important to art history (with artists whose markets are only appreciating in value).
With almost 8,000 square feet of exhibition space, "Concrete to Canvas" is a celebration of graffiti, street art and the artists born of these movements. This exhibition is a rare opportunity to see and collect internationally recognized pieces and includes a variety of works from graffiti pioneers like CRASH, Doze Green and Lady Pink to contemporary street artists such as Banksy, Swoon and Vhils.
"Concrete to Canvas" will highlight new perspectives while exploring themes of allegory, activism and identity. This exhibit also highlights the stylistic range and immense influence of street art with works by over two dozen artists including Cey Adams, Blek le Rat, FAILE, Richard Hambleton, How & Nosm, KAWS, Kool Koor, JM Rizzi and more.
Following the opening day, the exhibit will be on view through December 23.
