Another major department store is heading to The Domain as last phase of development begins
Seattle-based retailer Nordstrom announced plans Wednesday to open its second full-line Austin-area store, this one at The Domain. The new two-level, 123,000-square-foot department store is slated to open in fall 2016 and will feature the combination of high-end luxury brands and more affordable retailers that made Nordstrom famous.
"We are humbled by the support we've received from our customers in Austin since we first entered the market in 2003 at Barton Creek Square," said Erik Nordstrom, president of stores for Nordstrom, Inc, in a press release. In addition to the store at Barton Creek, Nordstrom Rack has stores in Sunset Valley and Gateway Center.
Nordstrom joins other luxury retailers including Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., and Neiman Marcus, among others, with locations at The Domain. "Given the Nordstrom commitment to first class customer service and quality merchandise, they are the perfect anchor for the next phase of The Domain," said Ben Bufkin, principal, Endeavor Real Estate Group.
And what a third phase it is. By the time construction is completed on the 304-acre development, The Domain will be comprised of 5,000 residential units, 1.8 million square feet of retail space, 3.5 million square feet of office space and 800 hotel rooms.
