Come Early, Be Loud, Wear Perfume
UT-inspired fragrances let Longhorn fans wear team spirit in a whole new way
Early season football games aren’t always the most pleasant, usually due to the lingering effects of your typical Texas summer. After a tailgate session and standing for several hours watching a game under the scorching sun, you won’t exactly be at your freshest.
Thankfully, Masik Collegiate Fragrances released a new line of perfumes for both men and women inspired by the University of Texas. Simply called The University of Texas Men's Cologne and Women's Perfume, these new products are helping fans smell better than barbecue and spilled beer at the end of gameday.
The New York-based company specializes in creating fragrances inspired — and officially licensed — by 19 different universities including Texas A&M, Clemson, LSU and Oklahoma. To develop the fragrance for UT, Masik focuses on our love of all things orange.
For the ladies, the perfume is a citrusy and fruity chypre, with top notes of bergamot, sweet orange, ruby redcurrant, along with a mix of orange blossom, mimosa flowers and jasmine sambac. With a more Asian inspiration, the men’s fragrance features top notes of pimento berry, mandarin pulp, rosemary sprigs, with middle and base notes combining English lavender, warm orange flower, aged bourbon accord and golden amber.
The University Co-op is currently the only local retailer selling the line, but the fragrances are also available to purchase on the Masik website (complete with a handy diagram outlining the inspiration). A 1.7-ounce bottle of either the perfume or cologne will set you back $39.50. Both are available now, just in time to grab a bottle before heading out to the annual Orange-White Scrimmage on Saturday, April 19.
